Even if I go to a college with not so great coaches, and not so great runners. I can still reach my full potential, as long as I apply myslef and make it happen?

yes.
college is what you make of it.
College is college. That's like saying it is what it is. So insightful.
at world class research universities, the faculty is barred from having homework & textbook questions on midterms and finals, and most have little homework and few in-class exercises. thus, the courses are extremely difficult and nearly impossible to pass on your own. i.e. you must be in a frat, and/or have stern study group, else you will get lost and have to drop out. in contrast, the non-world class schools are setup for rote memorization, and they preview the midterm and final exams. you might think it's mean or non-PC of the world class research universities to do this, but they have federal research grants and labs that absolutely must have weeded out qualified undergrads that they use to feed research with interns, TAs, RAs, etc.
