No. Kujiken destroyed the rest of the field at Pre-Nats after playing around for over half the race. She certainly didn't make any effort to mix it up with Jenny.
So if she won, I would be very surprised, but at least would be able to see where it came from. Still, pretty darn unlikely.
kujiken is one of the best runners in ncaa history, barringer is much better but definitly not the biggest upset in history
if someone like hasay won however that would get close
I'd say that if Evan Jager was awarded the gold in the women's race, that would be the greatest upset in NCAA history, or at least the weirdest.
Freshman Suzie Tuffey beating senior Regina Jacobs in XC in the mid 80s.
Wasn't there a big upset in the women's outdoor national championships a year or so ago in one of the distance events? I can't remember the names/details or if I am just imagining it.

I think it would depend on who wins overall if it is considered an upset
To me, if the winner is a name other than Barringer, Kijuken, Schaaf, Blood, or Hasay, then I think it will be an upset.
If the winner is any name other than Barringer it will be an upset. If the winner is any name other than Barringer or Kuijken it will be a huge upset.

I agree that it depends on who it is that pulls off the upset.
Your list is a little bit short. What about a name like Bizarri, who's beaten at least one name on your list this year.
But I'm calling Mel. That'd be an upset. I think she's been sleeping all season.
In 2007, Wake Forest's Michelle Sikes beat Sally Kipyego for the 5k crown at outdoor ncaas...i would say that was a pretty big upset
Greatest upset in history? It would not be even if your history began this year. Barringer may be the favorite (of most), but she is not invincible. I am one who thinks it would be an upset if she did not win, but your questions makes it seem like there is just no way anyone can beat her.

Oops, forgot about her. She's from Illinois, right? I don't really following distance too much outside of the conferences I follow.
Sikes has been low key though.. injury?
Michelle was Rhodes-Scholar so she went to Oxford to complete her studies...I remember seeing her run a mile at Penn Relays in April, and appeared to still be on a contract with Nike. I assume she is training hard but is focusing on her serious academic pursuits right now.
When was the last time an American Distance Record holder toed the line at NCAA XC's??

If anyone else wins besides Jenny B it would be a huge upset.
To me everyone else is racing for seconded including Susan K. Jordan, Allie M, Shaaf, White. But I wouldn't forget Bridge Franek from Penn State and the Villanova crew.
If Susan goes out to fast to try and stay w/Jenny it is conceivable that someone who raced smart could overtake her at the finish.
BIGGEST upset in NCAA HISTORY!!!!!
