Anyone using Bakken's Marathon Training Plan? I like it. It's different than some of the other boring ones I've followed before. Check the interview. What do you think?

Do you really need a plan to run a 4:32 marathon? I am sure his plan is decent but when you are talking times north of 3 hours, just about any plan that helps get the weight down and the hours of exercise up is going to lead to major improvements.

What is your goal time? I agree that north of 3 hours takes consistency, volume, and cross training if weight is an issue. If you want just add one workout a week, but its the volume and consistency that will get you there.
I agree that it is more for a serious runner. The plan stresses working your way up towards a marathon by actually doing 5k then 10k training, then finally marathon specific training. I think that might help me keep me focused on a more consistent, quicker pace even in my long distance runs. I hope it can help drop my time by a considerable amount.
