Talk about irony....
If you only knew what irony is....
Talk to other women about this issue (in person, so you can have a conversation with people who know you and your situation.) There are many women's health resources on the web and in the library that describe different types of pills as well as non-hormonal contraception methods.
My libido, mood, and overall mental health improved tremendously when I stopped using the pill after 12 years. I experienced irritability, moodiness, and low libido for the last three years or so. During that time, I thought the problem was just me, or just work-related stress. When I opened up to my friends, four of them told me they had gone through similar experiences. They convinced me to get off the pill. Within a couple months I felt like a different (and much happier) person.
Of course, everyone's circumstances are different. Good luck with whatever you decide.
so, Did you sex drive improve? Now what are you doing for protection against pregnancy?
yeah and it sucks. very counterproductive.
Yes its normal and it sucks, and it will last as long as she is on the pill and for a while after.
It raises shbg sex hormone binding globulin which grabs onto all the testosterone so there is none making her look for action. Some have success switching to a estrogen free version, which doesn't have a direct shbg effect (its all connected, though).

My gf went off the pill and her sex drive went way up. She said she had never felt that horny before (she'd been on the pill since age 15). But I think part of her sex drive was that she really, really wanted to get pregnant. So it could have been her mind playing games with her. Protection? None and now she's 4 months pregnant.
Is the baby the whooty?
Wedding cake reputedly has a similar and sustained effect.
why did u write this on a running website, running website not for all that other stuff
The pill is often prescribed to female athletes for bone health along with other benefits.
There are many options for contraception such as other types of birth control pills, nuvaring, or non-hormonal methods such as condoms, diaphrams, IUDs and fertility monitoring. Our Bodies, Ourselves is a reputable source and available online through ourbodiesourselves.org.
Also, there are many women's health message boards with discussions on birth control side effects and alternatives to the pill. Google will get you there.
The answer is to not have sex until you are ready to have a baby.

i disagree, and would argue it's good if you can wait until you're at least with someone who you could have a baby with if it just happened. no need to wait until you have the nursery set up.
anyway, i recommend looking into the IUD. It's the best.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intrauterine_deviceDoes the pill or Depo shot have any effect on your speed.
My wife went off the pill when I got my vasectomy and her sex drive is still nonexistent. So much for that theory.
