So how does the kid who chooses to not say the pledge receive almost unanimous support from the Letsrun crowd, but the people responsible for putting on this little production were hardly criticized at all on its respective thread?

I dont support the kid, he's a little douche bag who has been brain washed by his extremist parents and is just doing this to get attention without having a real understanding of the issues he thinks hes protesting (how could he hes 10?)...he should say the pledge
however I absolutely support his legal right to refuse to say the pledge and think that is the most prominent principle that our country was founded on...however that doesnt mean that the pledge shouldnt be offered
in the same way, had one of these kids refused to sing the song, their rights should be protected in the same way...
(having the song at all definitly stinks of indoctrination and is creepy as hell, but it doesnt cross a legal boundary as much as reflect incopetent teaching (teacher should definitly be reprimanded/fired)
Anything supporting Obama should be required, but anything against Obama should be forbidden. If Obama says they have to say the pledge then they should say it. If Obama says no to the pledge then no one should say it.

Nobody should have to say the pledge. The pledge is modern indoctrination. They didn't have it for 100 years after the country was created. People shouldn't have to put their hand over their heart during the pledge or the national anthem either.
I'm sure the kids could've opted out of the Obama singing if they or their parents had objected.

I agree that there should be not legal requirement for saying the pledge, but it should absolutely be offered and encouraged in public schools and society in general
a country with no sense of patriotism is a country that wont exist for much longer...

i doubt the teacher said "who wants to sing songs praising Obama and his socialist policies?" and then all the kids rushed to do it...that would be volunteering.
they werent 100% "forced" either, ie, im sure if they had refused, they probably would not have been killed (at least not on the spot), but it was somewhere in between volunteering and forcing, they just went along with what everyone else was doing.
so it's in between volunteering and forcing, but closer to forcing, because what is the child to assume will happen if they don't go along? probably the same thing that would happen if they didn't go along with something else the teacher said..they would be punished in some way. these were young kids...they have no idea how insane obama really is...

I don't even care if they weren't "forced" to do anything. People aren't forced to take mandatory vaccines, but they can lose credibility, jobs, and status if they refuse. Do you see where I'm going with this? All of a sudden, we're not allowed to think for ourselves, we're supposed to be supporting those in charge wherever we go and put our full trust in them. Government wasn't established in order to be trusted. It's supposed to be questioned constantly and kept in check. This level of propaganda is just sickening. It's not okay to be "forced" to say the pledge or pray in school, but we can round them all up and tell them "Hey, kids! Wouldn't it be fun to sing praise and glory to the one and only Barack Hussein Obama?" Naturally, the kids shout "Yeah!"
