Where will this race be held? Do you have to be a citizen, or basically be in the US at the time of the race?
Many people would die, mostly from being trampled to death. The starting line would be longer than the actual length of the race.
You would pretty much have to use chip times for two reasons: 1. The massive crowd would take a long time to cross the starting line. 2. The timing would have to be automated because, by definition of the race guidelines, EVERYONE in the US would be running in the race, so no one would be available to work the race.
Will there be really cool t-shirts? Actually no matter how cool it is, everybody would have one, so it would not be that special.
