The lunaracers are not a great racing shoe. They put your heel unnaturally high which at first forces you into a toe push, but eventually just becomes a very bad heel strike, and makes running on the balls of your feet even tougher.
The cushiony substance is not an efficient substance to run with in terms of returning energy from impact. Get a harder shoe for a faster run.
I like them. I would be considered slow by most on these boards. But I use them as my everyday trainers and I have run a marathon in them.
Started w the Luna Trainers and found the Racers were lighter (obviously) but gave more support while being equally cushioned as the Trainer.
I have run/raced in the Asics Bandito before. I could not imagine running a marathon in them - probably on my feet too long!
