Between NYU, CMU, WashU, Emory, and Brandies getting national berths and Case getting an at large bid - would the UAA be considered the strongest conference in the country this year? Or is WIAC still better?

UAA has shown its potential the past couple years. This year, they are definetly the best conference.
Wait until after nationals before making any sweeping statements. The UAA is strong this year, let us leave it at that.

No, until the UAA annexes UW River Falls and tips the scales of power in their favor the WIAC will always hold the upper hand.
If nothing else, the cumulative IQ of the UAA crushes the WIAC.
Amazing that Case gets their asses handed to them at home at the conference meet and they still get an at-large.
While I disagree with your post (think the WIAC is better) I must say that I really enjoy your handle. Frizzle Fry is a great album.

Except they didn't....

See if that helps them win nationals. Doubt it.
I don't see how this is really an argument this year. Someone brings up the WIAC/UAA debate every year. Usually it's tough to analyze because the WIAC teams run in the same region, but WashU (4th at UAAs) beat all but one WIAC team.

See if that helps them out in the future. You do realize none of these D3 guys are gonna go pro?
College means everything and some slumpy WIAC school degree does not stand a snow ball's chance in hell compared to the likes of NYU, CMU, UChicago, Case, Brandeis, Emory, etc...
Done.
The real winners are the Academic All Americans
I think he means the men, who got pounded at UAAs at home, but raced well at the interegional rumble and then again at the regional meet. I am only guessing the coach realized the men had no shot at the UAA title and trained them through the race in preps for the regional, where there would be easier competition and a chance to make Nats. There is no other explanation for how the Case men ran so much better at regionals than UAAs.

First point, there have been plenty of professional D3 runners and I am willing to bet some will go pro.
Secondly, a slumpy WIAC school degree is different for every program. Stevens Point has an excellent forestry program, Plattville is known for its engineering students, and Eau Claire has a nationally ranked Chemistry and PoliSci departments. If you want a slack off business or marketing degree, sure go for one of those other schools.
NYU 4th
WashU 7th
Platteville - 9th
LaCrosse - 10th
Carnegie Mellon - 12th
Emory - 14th
Eau Claire - 16th
Brandeis - 24th
Guess that's decided, huh?
F*** all the haters and WIAC apologists; the UAA will haunt your dreams tonight.

Forestry? Get real, that's really gonna get you far in life huh? Platteville "is known for its engineering students." How'd you come up with that one? UW-Platteville has an average 20-25 ACT. Shut up before you actually know the facts. Now, CMU, that school is known for Engineering. Eau Claire for PoliSci/econ., again think twice before you speak, they have stupid kids as well with an avg spread of 23-26. UChicago, Brandeis, WashU would all be better for that major.
Out.

Because that's a terribly difficult distinction to earn.

Kinda like how a marketing and advertising major will get you far in life huh? Yeah, that made about as much sense as your first sentence. You obviously are not aware that natural sciences and conservation programs will indeed get you far in life and will probably have more meaning that some business degree. And you are aware your ACT stat you pulled out was of the entire school and not program specific right? You are of course right in saying that CMU has an excellent engineering program but that still doesn't mean that Platteville is a joke. And again with the ACT stats that are not program specific for Eau Claire. I'll note that you did not challenge the Chem dept. You just seem to be saying that the students are stupid because of this ACT spread and therefor the school is a joke. I admit, there are a bunch of students at these schools that are total tools, but if you really got a sense of the departments I mentioned earlier, you would not be such a moron with random unsupported opinions. Nice try though.
Whether or not the WIAC schools are a joke, one can in no way debate the fact that all of the UAA schools are stronger academically as a whole, (not just individual programs) than all of the Wisconsin schools. While it's true that SOME of the WIAC athletes may be smarter and better students than SOME of the UAA athletes, one must look at the averages to get an accurate representation of the kind of students the college accepts, which in turn affects the pool of athletes available to the sports teams. Every year, all UAA teams lose many top recruits to less selective schools, as many students who would like to attend cannot because of their less than stellar grades. Those athletes then end up at schools like the Wisconsin ones, which, with their comparatively lax admission standards, will take more students and therefore have a larger talent pool from which to select and recruit athletes. Again, playing the averages and ignoring individual schools and programs, schools which can look at and accept a greater number of athletes will have a better chance of succeeding than schools with a smaller pool to work with. That in itself makes the fact that the UAA can compete with, much less put the WIAC to shame at nationals, which it did this year, extremely impressive. And no matter what you say, a engineering degree from a school such as Platteville, while still a college degree, is simply not worth as much as one from Case or CMU, which anyone in the know will agree with.
