They went 1-5 at their state meet against Saratoga ranked #3... WOW!!!!
Sorry California... Saugus girls... but Manlius is going to ROCK this show at NXN!
They were also not too far off of Aisling Cuffe's time... a top 5 runner in the country.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 20 in the largest class in NYS. Their SEVENTH runner was #30 in the merged results. This team is absolutely unmatched.
And unlike the California teams who ran impressive times the last couple years, they won't fold in actual weather.
Saratoga 2004 has got to be up there... 4 Footlocker finalists in a race where the eventual Footlocker champ that year was 2nd.

Don't usually comment or care about HS x-c anymore, but I got the pleasure of seeing what they were all about this year and I have to admit Californians, you may as well put up the white flag.
Syracuse has a rich history of running greatness and this team is yet another validation of that. Give it two years and Chris Fox SU guys will add to the legacy.
Toga 04 is of course up there... but I think Manlius has a shot at being the BETTER team (as hard as that may be to believe).

I definitely agree; FM has almost always run their best late season (FM boys '04 are the only team I could think of that didn't have their best race on the last race of the season). I believe that this team has the potential to throw down the best performance in HS girls history. That said, I don't think this state meet performance stacks up with the 'Toga '04 girls' NE Regional performance.
why would Saratoga 04 be up there with Fay Mann 09 when the latter had a much faster average and a totally minimal spread? course or weather differences?
These FM girls look like college athletes compared to other high school runners- GOOD high school runners at that.
What is very nice to see is that this is not a team of undeveloped 8th or 9th grade girls- this is a team of mostly 11th/12th graders (few exceptions- 1 9th grader, 2 10th graders at states) who've worked their asses off, who are well trained, and super competitive. Awesome to see that. What I liked yesterday is that coming down the last 200m their #5 girl was in 6th place- she didn't just sit there thinking "oh this is good enough" ... she outleaned the other girl to get 5th. Outstanding.
If you score it dual meet style:
FM '09 vs Toga States 2004
Toga:1, 3, 8, 9, 10 = 31
FM:2, 4, 5, 6, 7 = 24
FM '09 vs Toga FLNE '04
Toga: 1, 2, 3, 4, 12 = 22
FM: 5, 6, 7, 8, 9,(10),(11)= 35
Now personally, I don't think you can compare the race at FLNE and the race at states, because they're at different points of the season. The FM girls aren't going to be at their peak for another week or two, so who knows where they will end up by then. I don't think they could qualify 4 for FL, but then I don't think their focus is on FL either.
How would this team have done at NCAA Northeast Regionals?
They might not be as good as Syracuse and Providence, but I bet they would have been top 5.
Let me explain something to you people. Did you ever see Rocky IV where he trains in some Siberian- like Russian location to get away from distractions?
Well FM is a suburb of Syracuse, NY which is the snowiest city in the nation. These kids train with the focus and intensity of Rocky IV. No way they are not going to be great.
These kids are tough as nails.
my mom went to fayetteville-manlius back in the day
Isn't New York open enrollment?
I know they allow middle school kiddies to run right? Kinda unfair compared to other states where the real running waits until high school...
Not open enrollment.
Yes they have MS kids on varsity.

Actual weather? As opposed to fake weather?

No, actual weather as in not 55-70, dry and sunny.
Yes, middle schoolers can and do run varsity in NYS. But look at FM's roster-- a couple of freshmen and sophomores, but also plenty of upperclasswomen who have steadily progressed and look great.
Look at Mackenzie Carter for instance-- has been running at a very high level since 7th grade.
what sort of math is that? based on some bizarre stats page? based on time, FM 09 scores 15 points, a sweep against either saratoga squad.
Great run by F@M, wish them the best of luck in the quest to be the best ever.
And to " take that California ' have a great winter :-)
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
