Any chiropractor runners out there....please help me!
Over the past 2 years I have had off and on issues with my right tibiofibular joint that were fixed by getting it adjusted by my chiropractor. (He said it wasn't moving...?) I'm am now having what I believe to be the same issues on my left leg, but they are worse. I am not in a position to continue seeing the chiro.
The right side issues started several after a fairly severe inversion ankle sprain in which I probably didn't rehab it as well as I should have. Now I sprained my left ankle a couple months ago and about 2 months later I started having issues with that side.
The pain started as a deep calf pain that would wrap around to my peroneal muscle. I continued training the same and within within 2 weeks and the day after a hard long run I wasn't able to walk without limping. I had an MRI because I thought it could have been a stress fracture, but it came back as a soleus strain at the myotendonous junction. Is that where it attaches to the fibula? If so that would make sense because there is an area along the fibula (about an inch and a half below the head...and more towards the back of the bone) where it really hurts to push on it.
I didn't run for 2 weeks and it was feeling better...no pain walking or going down stairs at all. After 16 days I tried running for 5 minutes. The pain came back within 2 minutes.
The other day and today I noticed that if I do the standing IT Band stretch (the one where you put one foot over the other and push the hip out) and bend over and put my right hand on my knee and add pressure I heard an audible pop that felt like it came from the fibular head. Is this the problem? Was the joint locked? Is it getting locked again with in minutes or hours?
Should I continue doing this stretch and pop (adjustment?) Is there anything else I can do myself. I've also been doing deep massage in my whole calf and noticed several trigger points....
Thank you so much in advance. Any help/advice would be wonderful!
