Everyone I know is fat.
Everyone I know is fat.
children give less time to exercise. Bad eating habits at and outside work. Going by car instead of biking or walking.
The most important thing, however, is the change of genetic
makeup that has taken place after WWII. A large fraction of the population is now predisposed of obesity.
they just eat too much food. because food is good. mmm.
desk jobs. Loss of freedom. Frequent uses of cars. Lack of walking... and so on.,. all work related
TIME.
When you are in your 30's, you are giving your life over to other people--the boss, your spouse, your kids. You eat crap food because it is convenient, and you skip running to fulfill all these commitments. The result is weight gain.
Out.

Excuses, excuses, excuses.
It's all BS, get up early and run then you won't be a fatAS$$ and you'll set a good example so you kids won't be fat either.
After 30 your body and all it's systems begin to decline by about 1% a year.
UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
EVER HEARD OF JORDAN HASAY
Setting an example does nothing for kids.
Both my girlfriend and I run races of all types and workout regularly. Her kids won't walk to the bus stop. Too many other examples impact their life other than parent figures.

People have had the same genetic makeup for the last 10,000 years. Don't make stuff up and pass it off as science. People are fatter now because they eat more and exert themselves less.
the average person does not even cover more than 300 meters a day.
the average peson doesn't even do body core.
Hmmph :(

1st: you are not Blowing Rock Master, but nice try.
2nd: turn on your sarcasm detector.
likely the fat people you know were accumulating fat intra-muscularly (sp? don't know if that's even a word ) during their 20's and then it gradually show up as sub-cutaneous bulges, folds, slabs, etc as they hit their 30's.
People lose muscle in their 30's (unless they are doing resistance work/exercise), so less muscle there to burn calories => more fat accumulation.
Also, just as mentioned, they get married, have kids, and don't have time to take care of themselves, and don't really give a shit, because...they are married.
Believe it or not, many of us married 30-, and even 40-somethings still "give a shit" about our bodies. If you have a spouse who also values health and fitness, it's easy to work exercise into your life.
My Daddy did it, so do I. wrote:

I used to say the same thing when I was in my late teens, early 20s, but it does get much more difficult. Between work, my wife, kids, sleep and running, there is not enough time in a day to fit all of it in. You have to choose which ones to neglect.
I'm in my 30s and about 145lbs, which was my weight in college. I do have time to run, but it means that sleep, work, and sometimes my wife get less time than they should.
Everything said so far is very accurate. Plus, the pressure of being a stud in the 20's is over. Let is go baby!

Their high carbohydrate intake catches up with them.

Changing energy expenditure (exercising more, or exercising less) does virtually nothing to body composition when people eat "as much as they want." This has been known for a very long time--people simply eat more, in response to exercising more, or eat less, in response to exercising less.
It's almost entirely a question of diet. Modern, high-carbohydrate diets, esp. when those carbs come in refined form, make people much hungrier than they are when eating the low-carb/primal diets they are "designed" to eat.
Cats and dogs are a pretty good analogy, as they are even more poorly suited to high carb diets than are humans. Feed them meat/fish/chicken/eggs or some wet foods which consist almost entirely of these, and they will eat as much as they want and remain lean. Give them unlimited access to the Dorito-like corn-based dry foods and they will often get extremely fat and unhealthy when they are past the growing-animal phase.
did she get her kids running or walking a lot when they were very young? I let my two year old walk as much as a mile at a time every day, having built to that pretty quickly once she was able to walk, and she loves to run; it is tough to get her to stop when we have to do something else. I put her in the stroller only to get her to nap, and then I run with the stroller to get the nap, rarely taking the car. Kids raised indoors are probably going to be sedentary.
