dude seriously? check the f#@kng home page d1 west region. Or maybe even www.google.com. He runs for oregon whichi sn't that good this year. they're getting their a$$es kicked by stanford.
They have an interview with him on flotrack.

Hey buddy, there's a dickfor on your shoulder. No, seriously, there is. It's right there!
What the hell has happened to him since hewent to Oregon - how does the no1 high school guy and footlocker champion keep running so shit for Oregon.he has done nothing since going there - the guy is clearly talented and has all the physical attributes but is running shit most races. I'd at leats expect him to be able to keep with Puskedra orbe pushing to be their as their top guy, he's strugglignt o even make their top 5 this season.
Is he not training hard, i know hes been injured but i'd still expect better performaces from him than his with the amount of alter g's, physio etc to keep him in very good shape whilst he cant run when injured. hes been injury free for a while now and still hasnt shown any signs of progression.
Is he partying to much, not taking things seriously, isn't he on a scholarship their so you'd expect him to keep pushing himself to be better. He only has this year and his senior year - does he hope to go pro after or getting onto a post collegiate team - if he does he will have to be running a LOT better than this as rihgt now i can't seehim doing anything of significance after his senior year a oregon and fading into obscurity.
he needs to get his shit together as he is a much better runner than what he has shown so far. Stop trying to be the class clown and take it seriously - whats the point in doing somehting half-assed when you could be great.

I don't know any specifics about Acosta but his situation (HS champ to college also-ran) is not that uncommon. Two years ago Mike Fout beat Derrick, Fernandez, Puskedra at Footlocker. Now he's at Fl St and doing OK but he's no longer in the same league as his HS peers.
Happens all the time. And most of it is due to bodies maturing faster or slower than others wrt running capabilities. It is not mostly due to s*#%y coaching and/or people with bad attitude who refuse to train seriously.
well considering there are photos all over facebook of him dancing around a table with beers on it, added yesterday so will have been after his crappy run at regionals id say this may be one of the reasons he hasn't progressed as expected.
The guy seems to enjoy partying and bein a bit of a clown, this is his main problem i'd say as its not a lack of talent holding him back - the guy has more talent than most of the guys in the NCAAs but it counts for shit when you aren't working as hard as you could be and are partying instead of resting. He could be taking ovr that leadership spot Oregon needs now with Galen gone, the guy has the personality and charisma to take over as a leader but for whatever reason hasn't stepped up.
I think if Vin knew what he was getting up to 1 week before Nationals after he ran pretty crap at regionals, and especially how disappointing Oregons team result was in the end he would be going livid. Acosta should know better and be thinking of the team not having a few drinks to unwind, it doesn't matter if it was 2 drinks or 20 - the guy should be resting and getting ready as Oregon need all their guys to step up in 1 weeks time and his behaviour isn't helping anyone,
he ran 3:58 and came in 2nd? at nationals in the mile...he might have also run sub 14 and 3:40...thats not a bust at all, especially since he still has eligibility.
I'm falling over laughing if one of the above posters actually thinks 2 beers has any effect on a runner's ability to recover.
You idiots are all wrong...he transferred to Adams State. I have it from reliable sources that Damon has kept him under lock and key in his basement, only letting him out under the cover of darkness to train. You just wait all of you nay-sayers: next year he will be D2 CHAMP! GO GRIZZLYS!

He's gone 7:57i and 13:50, he's def gotten better since HS. Hopefully he has a breakout year. Look at Ryan Hall at Stanford. It took him a few years to break out, after he finally started listening to the coaches.
I often see "AJ Nation" when referring to AJ. What does that mean?
