Somehow this race got by me - but great finish by Leer here.

Nice of that German guy to move out so Leer could go by on the inside.
controlled 24.3 last 200?
Thanks for the posting the video Will.
People complain about rabbited time-trials. This to me is far worse.
This is a race, a time trial is not (necessarily) a race, so does not rise to the level of a race. Race>>Time Trial

You are wrong.
A rabbited race will at least allow the best runner at the race distance to win. The event occurring in this video simply allows the runner with the best 200m speed to win (maybe it's the best 1500 runner, maybe not). So what is the 'race' distance here? 1500m? 600m? 200m? What 'racing' occurred from the gun to the 1km mark? This isn't a whole lot different than if everyone moonwalked for a kilometer then decided to run.
We are obviously talking about a spectrum here. Rabbitted races being one end, jogging/assgrabbing with a 200m sprint finish at the other end. The most exciting type of conditions probably fall somewhere in the middle. Rabbitted 'time-trial' races are significantly better than jog/sprints though.
personally i prefer the sprint finishes - to each his own.
no one cares.
Last 200? Last 90m it was a race.
The only person who may have better leg speed than Brain Butzler, may in fact be Will Leer.
it wasn't that slow of a race, was it?
the 3rd lap was a 57, the 2nd was a 63
it was just the first lap that was significantly slow. He's Will Leer, not El G
I don't see what is so impressive about that. They went out in 2:11 I have seen many high school races go out faster and most college races. Of course he is going to come back with a kick. 2:11 for these guys is nothing more than a quick warm up. Lets see that kick after an opening 2:00 then I will be impressed.
What is impressive is the two guys that he beat in that kick...3:34/8:01steepler (bronze in 09) tahri, and the 3:33 german.
For like the 10th best miler in the usa - that is fancy footwork.
And you have been observing this sport for how long. Let me guess, you do not like the track and field news board because they like some races other than time trials.
Basically, if you cannot win the championship races you are, by definition, NOT the best runner.
By the way, why was Bolt not winning that race; he has the best 200 speed. Also, the one with the fastest 200 time does not win the end of these races, it is a subtly different talent/ability.
