on his bio it says 1:03:58 in Las Vegas in 2002 and also in the latest competitor article.
he should crush it this weekend based on all his workouts he's been doing. he wants to run 62-63 in san antonio... check it:
not to be picky, but here are the result from vegas 2002

looks like josh just missed cracking 1:04, yet he claims a 1:03:58 at that race in the article above.
one thing that always kind of irked me about josh is that he rounds his pr's to 2:13 and 1:03. he ran 2:13:55 at chicago under perfect conditions and apparently didn't even break 1:04 in vegas.
personally, i wouldn't mind someone like nick arcianaga claiming just 2:13 since he ran 2:13:46 on a tough day at new york. to me there's a huge difference between someone like jorge torres' 2:13:00 at new york and josh's 2:13:55 at chicago. yet when rounded, these times appear the same to the uneducated reader.
not that joe jogger cares, just a little misleading in my book, especially with that half marathon time!
maybe he subtracted some time for where he started in the starting line or for any stops he made along the way (including shoe-tying)

hahahaha.
whats next. adjusting my finishing time based on weather or course?
i love this...especially from the ultimate narcissist in our sport.
mr. integrity runs 1:04 plus at vegas...yet claims a 1:03 pr. i'm sure you did not think anyone would notice... JUST a few seconds right?
well, i hope you can run a PR this weekend...because if you dont, i would request you change your factually inaccurate "BIO" page.
Godspeed.

check out 27th place in that same race. must have been an off day.
Josh Cox made Wejo his B*tch
Isn't the course record sub 1hr? The courses is aided... downhill and what, one turn? Anyway, I hope he does break 104 so at least he can have an accurate bio.
A blatant lie on your bio. VERY CHRISTIAN.
Not that anyone "really" cares, but he was officially given a 1:04:00. Probably a 1:03:59 and change rounded up, but he may have had 1:03:58.9 on his watch for all we know. It's a bit disingenuous because Vegas is a fast course anyway, so why not just go with the official result? Nonetheless, I hope he puts down a PR in San Antonio and Sacramento.
JOSH COX MT LAGUNA CA 26 M 1:04:02 1:04:00
No matter how you slice it. He is a liar.
it's dubious to claim an AR when no top tier athletes compete at the distance. it's dubious to round your pr's down by 60sec. it's dubious to claim you're an elite athlete when you haven't been better than sub-elite for almost a decade. dubious on all accounts!
His behavior has become very predictable.
1. Talk a big game.
2. Do not come close to your big talk.
3. Then call your underperformance a success claiming that it was just part of a training block.
----------------------------------------------------------
More specific
1. I will run 62-63 minutes in San Antonio
2. He will run slower than 64:30.
3. He will claim that it was a success because he is in the middle of training for Cal International.

The stupid part is that he is able to continue to find media that is willing to report on him.
I hate to pile on, but after the award ceremony of the Huntsville marathon last year (which he won), he set up a table to sign autographs. He brought glossy pictures of himself. Only a handful of takers.
Hahaha... Josh Cox, the self-described Writer, Runner, Humanitarian, & Jesus Follower, lies about his times.
from his "Bio":
Personal Records
1:03 half-marathon
Won 2002 Las Vegas Half Marathon - 1:03
FACT: Josh ran 1:04:00 OR 1:04:02 at Las Vegas 2002.

i can see that happening or one of the following:
1. claims he had a glute or some physical issue
2. claims the weather didn't cooperate
3. just drops out and says he didn't want to overdo it so close to his marathon.
More importantly, his behaviors had been picked up by Ryan Hall lately. Hall said he wants to break 59 min in Philly half when he ran 1:01:52 (and not even close to breaking an hour). Hall said he is in the best shape of his life when he was never a factor in NYC marathon.Talk about bad influence....

good point! i hadnt even thought of that. ryan hall has a big fat excuse as the headline of letsrun.com.
a champion doesn't make excuses. cox influence no doubt.

Name that jumps out to me is #14 finisher Jon Sinclair. 1:09 at age 44. Dude was a very good runner in the 80s...serious road warrior.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
