5 Mile Race - Training Question 11/6/2009 6:23PM Reply | Return to Index | Report Post
I'm not where I want to be right now but I'm just racing a 5miler at Thanksgiving and I'd like to just be def under 6min pace (30mins) and run in the 29s or faster.

I ran these workouts recently but they were on the track.

3 x Mile @ (5:25, 5:27, 5:22) with 3:30 min rest in between each

2 x 4800m @ LThreshold JackDaniels pace 17:52 (5:57,5:56,5:56)...1 min rest jog in place then 3 miles @ LT in (5:54,5:58,5:54)
Felt good, not so bad

Do you think they show at least a sub-30 or 29 effort on the roads? (Obviously you don't know how hard I ran them but generally speaking)

sub 29 a good possibility even if the rest on the 3xmile is too long.

You are fine man. I could barely run a 4 mile tempo on the treadmill at 6:00 pace when I went 29:20. Where is this 5 miler?

These are very similar to the times I run, sub 29's should not be an issue unless the conditions are extremely poor, or you head out like you are running a 5k.

Good Luck
