The debate over meb's american-ness on miami herald article. http://www.miamiherald.com/588/story/1317406-p2.html americans will never accept an east african as a real american. there is a openly used racist term .. it goes something like this... "so and so is the - all American kid" which means they are white and have a surname that is smith, barber, hall, gates... its ok for you all to admit this and lets get it out of the way for good. Even wejo believes this because - the argument that naturalized Americans that are a product of the US system (highschool and college system) is an american runner. One that comes here at 19 to go to college...??? not so much... I am east african and to be honest, america does not have a running system that produces any serious runners. sure hall and webb are impressive but they are no world beaters. Even Meb is a second tier runner! 2:09 PB is a joke! so regardless of what you think... you still suck at distance running white, black, east african living in america, mexican. sincerely, wanjiru haile bekele dibaba tergat elg |

For a while the Fins were unstoppable. Your time will pass too. Maybe the Japanese will be next. Frankly, if Meb was based in New York, everyone would have gone completely bat-shit (Local runner wins Marathon!) you wouldn't hear any of this. But I agree that "trained in the American system" is not a good standard for being an citizen of the US. If that is the case, then the US still maintained its dominance in the sprints as most of the Jamaicans go to/went to college in the US (and train in the US as well). |
