i also agree entirely.

part of the reason why bolt was so well welcomed was because he was a foreign superstar who had never visited kenya before. the people there are accustomed to other black skin distance stars like wanjiru, tergat, etc...but kenya has never, to my knowledge, had any visitors that were spinter world record holders.

kenya may consider him one of their people, simply because he has black skin. lets not forget that all black people are "brothers". all black people feel like they are the same group of people, and they also believe that even jamaicans and all other black people in the world originated from Africa, and are all the same ethnic group, simply because of their skin. they are worst than American Indians. All Indians feel they are siblings, but they all realize they are from different tribes. black people think they are ALL from the same Nation and must fight for one another, especially against white skins, redskins, yellow skins, and brown skins. Black people are notorious for thinking they are the only "minority". even arabs, to them, are the same as white people, mostly because they feel their incredibly dark skin is so extremely dark, therefore they feel they are more extremely ethnic.
i will debate this until i am blue in the face (instead of a redskin) and have experienced this first hand with black people my entire life, so i know its true.

parden me for getting off topic, but it had to be said.
bolts home country of jamaica is not indigenous to cheetahs, thats one of the primary reasons he went to where cheetahs are indigenous, and why the whole cheetah tidbit with bolt has gained publicity.

to the kenyan people, all the african people, and ALL BLACK PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD, someone like wanjiru will always be just another african distance runner. nothing new. sure, when wanjiru breaks the marathon wr (and he will) he will get some more publicity for making kenya dominant again over ethiopia in the distance world (despite bekele), but bolt will always be popular no matter where he goes due to his unique heritage combined with his talent and achievements. sprinting is an anaerobic sport, just like football, its easier than distance running, makes people feel more badass when doing it, funner to watch, more attracting to females, and numerous other things will always make sprinting more popular than distance running. which is why bolt will always be more popular than wanjiru, geb, bekele, and any other distance runner no matter what they accomplish.

are these all valid excuses for why wanjiru got a sh!tty welcome in his home town due to the presence of bolt? no. its not valid or fair. but its the truth. life, love, and running is never fair. just deal with it.

I had the pleasure of running in Addis Ababa last fall for world junior championships, AND I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE EAST AFRICAN PEOPLE. Africans aren't near as cocky as Americans are. They don't sit around and worry about getting the newest "air force 1's". They are lucky if they even have 1 pair of shoes to wear. Most Africans run barefoot, because that's all they have. If I ever run at the senior international level, I REFUSE to represent the United States. I'm really ashamed to be considered an American, when we have the worst attitude in the world. I also don't understand why everyone in this country can be considered an American, when MY people are the only real Americans because we are the Natives. Everyone else came from somewhere else.

I am not sure whether the last few posters were being facetious. I certainly hope so. But in the off chance that were not, it must be said that the rant posted by 430 milers is absolute drivel. It is poorly written in every sense, racist, jingoist, immature, and ignorant. Anyone who gives any sort of support to a hateful young person, even in jest, is doing such a person a great disservice.

I also feel similar now, because a certain black teammate of ours broke it down for us one day on the bus to a meet.

430 and I were sitting next to each other, and our female teammate (who was from the Virgin Islands) went into explicet detail of the typical black mentallity.

She said that all black people, no matter where they are from, put people into 2 class. Basically theres black people, and then theres everyone else. No brown. No red. No yellow. Nothing. Everyone who is not black, is basically the same as a white person. She said this is all due to the fact that blacks are in a "league of their own" and they have been treated far worst than all other groups of people.

430 and I actually chuckled at this, because we are both Native American. But it was very educational for us, because only then did we know how all black people REALLY feel about themselves vs. other people

And stop drinking hairspray and aqua velva. Maybe then, you'll realize you do have some worth to society.
So fricking excellent

Ok, "Mr. Black Whisperer," This has to be one of the most unintelligent theorized posts I have read on Letsrun in quite some time. It would not have been nearly as awful if you had not profess to being the "all-knowing" translator for ALL black people based solely on "YOUR" first hand experiences with black people your entire life. That statement alone gives an entertaining laugh to your credibility and ignorance! Especially since you obviously have NO CLUE about the history of black people...

First get your facts correct (aka-Face the Facts). During the Atlantic Slave Trade, over 17 million West & Central Africans (black people) were shipped to the New world (America's), and Caribbean Colonies (Jamaica- hmm... sound familiar?) from the 16th to the 19th centuries. Of these, an estimated 645,000 were brought right here to the United States. Actually, the largest number were shipped to Brazil (3 million). Many other countries had their own version of the slave trade directly from AFRICA. By the way, over 7 million died either in transit or seasoning camps (slave breaking).

Just in case you were wondering... Any time you see a dark skinned person (not just black people) in ANY country, There is a 97% chance some of their families heritage can be traced back to West or Central Africa within 100-350 years ago. So if you hear a black person say that again. Guess what? They are actually stating the facts, not just your version of "black pride." Although many countries have adjusted racial classifications due to the mixing of races and cultures, it's still not difficult to tell who is of African descent. If they look like Bolt, Jordan, Oprah or the rest of the black people you know sooooo well. Genius, they're great-great-great-great grandparents are almost guaranteed to be from Africa.

SO, your ALL-INCLUSIVE statements could not have been more disillusion. Black people do not feel we are "ALL related" to every other black person around the world. We are smart enough to realize that are heritage traces back to same continent. There are now over 150 million African descendants all over the world. They speak many different languages and have many different cultural identities now. The one thing that still hasn't changed is the ability to recognize many simply by skin color...

By the way... Bono, Madonna, and Bill Clinton got a pretty good reception in Africa as well, and they're not black...

Oh son of a bitch! I actually read through about half of that post before I looked up and saw it was written by the the430miler.
Good stuff, but you didn't spend quite enough time dwelling on Tegat.

Yeah there have been plenty of ethnic wars Africa; tribalism is a big issue there. Maybe people from your tribe are your brothers, but certainly not all black people

OH GIVE ME A MOTHERHUMPING BREAK!!!

Black people say, "yo yo yo what up my brother?"

Black people do not say, "pardon me, but could you inform me upon the tribe from which you belong? Oh, the Ballooomazoos? Excellent! I am from that very same tribe. What is upwards by brother?"
Where?

the430miler is one of the least racist people I have ever met. I am from a neighboring school district and competed against him at various meets (I'm not sure he remembers me). He has tons of black friends and by virtue of his indigenous heritage, can relate to many of the same struggles that they face.

Ok... you've ran against the guy a few times... Had a few conversations... He may not even remember you... BUT, he is the least racist person you know??? I would be really interested to see to people you socialize with.

Yes all black people are exactly the same and there are never tribal wars or slaughters in Africa. Congratulations on your keen intellect
