had a disagreement over who the best female rapper of all time is. my friend tried to kick me out of his car when i said i preferred lauren hill to mc lyte. now there is no doubt in my mind that these are the top 2, but is there anyone else out there that i maybe have not heard of? |

Da Brat is the best, followed by Eve. Honorable mention: Lil' Kim, Trina, Foxy Brown, MC Lyte, and Missy Elliot. I wouldn't really consider Lauryn Hill a rapper, she's kind of in the same category as Erika Badu. |

Not sure why there aren't that many female rappers...I think MC Lyte is among the most well known, but I never thought she was very good. Queen Latifah was ok. Can't think of anyone that was great. |

I would say that Lauryn Hill with the Fugees was definitely rap, but "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" she transformed into an R&B artist. So if we wanted to accurately evaluate Lauryn Hill as a Rapper, I would think her career is lacking. The Fugees were great, but limited quantity hurts her. That being said, her short career as a rap artist might justify "best female rapper of all time" because everyone else is pretty horrible. |
