It is illegal because over-zealous corporations wanted to kill competition in materials and textile markets.
Hi I'm DuPont. I figured out long ago that hemp could possibly be the most useful plant on earth. You can use the fibers for various materials, use the oils from the seeds for energy needs (first Ford prototype was designed to be run on hemp seed oil), as well as ingest the seeds for their superior healthy fat ratio. The plant matures in a little over 100 days, requires no pesticides or herbicides.
But I don't like you having access to hemp because then you won't buy my petroleum-based substitutes for the things you could have obtained naturally. And where is the profit in that?
Hi I'm from Pfizer. I figured out long ago that cannabis is the oldest, safest, and one of the most effective medicines known to man. It's only side effects are hunger and sleepiness, and you can grow it almost anywhere.
But I don't like you being able to grow your own medicine because then you won't buy my synthetic substitutes for the medicine you could have grown naturally. Where is the profit in that?
