I am a high school coach and I have a girl athlete that has been having a monster season. She also has a personal trainer who just does core stuff with her. Anyway, this ahole is trying to take credit for her success this season and i'm sure that his core stuff has helped but i know that my workouts have been the reason she is doing well. She just told me today that she promised him he could coach her during the offseason. How would you go about handling this situation? |

Don't allow your ego to get in the way. Your school AD will probably give you the credit anyway, right? My daughter always trained with an outside coach, running and core but it made the HS coach look good. She was a state champion beginning in her freshman year, and I didn't want her getting injured training on the concrete and asphault roads 100% of the time, which is what the high school team did. We always kept the HS coach informed and during HS meets the personal coach kept his distance while the HS coach worked with her. Because the HS coach was so flexible and open to this arrangement, we all still get along very well and my duaghter is running D1 now. Good luck. |

I'd post messages about him on various internet sites accusing him of being a pedophile. If that fails, start spreading "word of mouth" about things you read about him on the internet. - Douchebag Dave |

Coach so well that you'll never have another athlete think of going to a personal trainer on the side. Your workouts are the reason she's doing so well? Perhaps. How is the rest of your team doing? |

The rest of the team is great. Best results the school has had in years. I actually know the personal trainer and i know of all his credentials. He has way less experience than i. I would be fine if he would stick to his core stuff and i could stick to my running stuff but this guy wants all the glory. |

Also forgot to mention that earlier this season the guy puts her on the treadmill to do speedwork a couple hours after i had her do a tempo run thus hurting her. After that she had to basically take a week off of training. I don't care about glory and i do want to see her and the team do well, but i have to question someone who puts an athlete on the treadmill for speedwork. |

Nutty obessive parents have created this personal coach market which is full of dipshits. Unfortunately, I am going to guess you cant coach her in the off season anyways? So u can conceed that but I would but it in writing when she returns in the spring that she will limit her involvement with the personal coach to strength training and thats it. If you dont get the commitment you are looking for then let her and the parents know that the PT can write her workouts, enter her in meets, arrange for her transportation, etc. IF he wants in the business of hs coaching than he can do it all not just freeload like some many of those turds like to do. Good luck these situations suck. |
