Normal week: Mon- 8 miles (All these runs are around 6:40-7:20 mins miles) Tues- 4 Am & Session in evening ( varies between 1ks, 800s, 400s, 300s, 200s, 150s etc) Wed- 9 miles Thurs- 10 miles Fri- 7 miles Sat- Sesion in morning as above. Sun- Long run Alternative week: (ie. Tempo Week) Mon- 5 mile tempo ( around 5:40-6:00 miles) Tues- 4 Am & Session in evening ( varies between 1ks, 800s, 400s, 300s, 200s, 150s etc) Wed- 5 mile tempo Thurs- 4 mile tempo (around 5:30) Fri- Rest/ slower run Sat- Session in morning as above Sun- 6 mile tempo, slightly slower than other tempos) I'm an 800m runner, last summer PR-ing at 1:59, and 4:06 in 1500m. I've been following this tempo schedule since track season ended, with my eye on the indoor season. Are there any real benefits associated with the second schedule, do you think? Will it give me the extra speed endurance I need? Any feedback is appreciated |
