I was looking at Track and Field News message board. There is somebody named Marlow who seems to post all day long. Does anybody know who this guy is? Is he an employee there? |

His name is Pat Crandall. He's a high school coach from Florida (Jacksonville I think) and yes he does post all day long. He loves the sound of his own voice. He used to go by Tafnut. Between his 2 posting names he has a bazillion posts on Track and Field Message board. He runs the place. Even Gary Hill is afraid of him. |

Marlow, formerly tafnut, is a very successful pole vault coach (as well as other jumping events) at a private high school in jacksonville, FL. He does not work at T&FN, so does not moderate the site. Obviously Garry Hill does not feel he needs removing from that site for any transgressions. He might post a lot, but he is nowhere in the same vicinity as the offensive drivel that gets posted over here on an hourly basis. Despite what you might think of him, or more rightly his online persona, he cares deeply for our sport, and works every day at the grassroots level to ensure that it continues. He has had an extremely positive impact in the lives of hundreds of kids over the years. What have you contributed to our sport? Hate and negative bullshit on letsrun.com? |

Nah. I became acquainted with him on those boards years ago. Somehow I found out he coached in my hometown of jacksonville, FL. Apparently, he and I have been to a couple of the same functions years ago, but I have never met him. Having said that, I do know people who know him very well - Other coaches in the area. They all, to the last one, regard him highly and praise his work with the kids he coaches, both at his school and in the PV camps he hosts for anyone to attend. Many of the local north florida high school PVers attend his camps in the summer. Even the ones who will be competing against his own team. Whether you like him and his onine persona or not, he is good at what he does, and is respected for it in the "real world." |
