Thanks for the link. The segment also includes an appearance by Dan Jensen, who ran the marathon on Sunday. |

Brian Larson is a great name, maybe LRC should rename Meb. |

I thought the video with Arnold was funny too. |

I wonder whether one of Colbert's writers knows that Meb's coach is Bob Larsen? |

It's Dan JAnsen with an A. Easy mistake to make. Speed skating has earned more gold medals for the US than all of the other winter olympic sports COMBINED!!!! Everybody should be throwing money at that sport. Eric |

Eric Heiden! Did you guess that somebody was going to talk about Colbert and speedskating here or was this just random? |

I'll second the Eric Heiden! Probably my first memory of really following a sporting event was the '80 Lake Placid Games when I was seven and you were going for five golds. I can recall knowing when you won each race, how many gold medals you had, etc. You really excited me about athletics. Thank you. And if you're still following this thread, would you have any thoughts to share about the speedskating outside (which I think ended in '80) with the indoor version of today. I just recall it being so cool seeing you race outdoors. |

I wish I was still skating! That interview with Dan was funny. Back when we were skating (and he was just a nubbin - actually his brother Mike was the better skater then), we would've called his sore legs, "having a case of the 'mohammy's'" The golden days of SS are gone. Sort of like the golden days of the 70's and 80's of running. Eric |
