Looking for an excellent honeymoon location. Obviously I could Google stuff, but I'd like to here of any places you'd swear by. It will be in early June of next summer, and we're coming from Illinois.
Hawaii? The Bahamas? Something Caribbean? Anything in South America? No cruises. Also trying to avoid Mexico. In fact, in general, I'd like it to be a place that wouldn't be a total ghetto if it weren't for tourism.

Go to Colorado. It is only 1000 miles from Illinois so you won't waste a lot of time and money getting there. Just being in the mountains makes it a nice place for a honeymoon. June is obviously off season for the skiing industry, so it won't be hard finding a nice place to stay. It also keeps your money in the US of A.
How much are you looking to spend? This could make a big difference in the selection.

Montreal and Quebec City
Then go to Maine. Go to Arcadia National Park and do some rock climbing and eat lobster.

My wife and I went to Saint Lucia for our honeymoon this February. We did a Sandals all-inclusive resort, and were completely satisfied. Beautiful mountains and beaches. Great weather.
We felt safe outside of the resort and the people there didn't seem annoyed at all of us being there. I would recommend it over Jamaica, Bahamas, and Mexico. Been to all of them and St. Lucia was more quiet and a much prettier place.

Vieques, Puerto Rico. Cheap in June, isolated, U.S. currency, great rum and Chilean wines, deserted beaches, one of the best bio-bays in the world, affordable air fare, etc.

Go to Europe. Spend a few days in Paris or Florence, then head to the Mediterranean.

Great rates, great food, easy to get to. Lots of beaches on the island (it's the only resort on its island). Get an Ocean View and ask for a 2nd story room.
Hawaii was awesome. We did Maui in July. The only regret was that we were only there for a week due to lack of vacation time at work. It's a long flight for only a week there.
Colorado, Quebec City, Maine...? I would never recommend them for a honeymoon!My choice: Paris, Rome, Thailand, Hawai, Greece.
