i'm not sure how old Kirwa is, but of the rest of their scoring 5, Chris Barnicle is the oldest one there. And he's an american in his final year.. seems pretty fair to me

Well it is if you look at how the race played out, like the other poster said nm 1-5 guys finished right ahead of their byu counterparts, it was pretty much a duel and none of byus top 5 managed to beat who they needed to

Congrats to UNM, the Mountain region and MWC now officially have another superpower!

And UNM's official breakdown... 5 Brits, 3 Americans, 1 Kenyan. Ages in order of finish: 27?, 22, 22, 22, 20, 24, 19, 23, 20. By looking at last years results, they are red-shirting 2 of their solid young americans.

Great job to New Mexico. However by keeping score, BYU is still 9 to 2 at the conference championships since the MWC started (or 10 to 1 vs New Mexico). I would think that BYU still owns the conference until someone else establishes a similar consistency of winning.

The Lobos definitely showed they wanted it more yesterday. Good point in showing how each man, 1 through 5 made it personal, and even at BYU's home course!

Who has the advantage in the larger races? Should be good for the MWC to see both teams finish in the top 10 at NC's.

NO... to be quite honest if you've ever played any collegiate sports nobody knows what the hell regionals even is, so winning a conference championship is great and looks great, winning regional only means you have an auto bid into nationals, but nobody gives a shit, we'll see how these teams do at nationals before you decide that.

Argubly, conference doesn't mean sh*t either, just another meet on the road to nationals. Like you said, it looks good for the school, but most/all will take a better showing at nationals. As a Lobo fan, I was disappointed to see the trash talking ("pawned" - what's that sh*t) after conference only to watch the Lobos get beat handily by BYU last Saturday. Another lesson why talking sh*t is pointless, even after nationals. Results speak for themselves.
