A few co-workers have coerced me into joining them in a 1/2 marathon 6 weeks from today (December 6). I haven't done any serious running training in a few years. My cardiovascular base is decent since I've been training and competing in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (submission wrestling) for the two years.
I have no clue about what my current time would be at any distance; however, I did complete a 5 miler last week with these jabronis without excessive effort at ~8 minute pace. For reference, although it isn't applicable today, I was running 4:40ish for the mile when I last trained 3 years ago...
All that being said, I'm trying to devise a 6 week schedule to prepare myself for this thing. I'm sure I could put my shoes on and run the 13.1 miles today if a gun was held to my head, but I'd like to finish with a less than embarrassing time (and annihilate my co-workers).
Any advise on the schedule, intervals I should run, hills, etc... would be appreciated. I'll provide updates from time to time, for in case anyone cares :)
Also, of note - all running training will be in addition to my martial arts training (4 days a week, 2-3 hours a session), as I'm scheduled to compete in a tournament the week after the 1/2...
