Any predictions?
I have UW men winning, with Clemson second and Illinois third.
I don't follow the women much, but I'm picking UW women to make a push for a podium spot.
Good luck to everyone at regionals this weekend!

im betting the results will be very similar to last year as far as top teams go. central michigan needs to be added into the girls race though.
WTC > any other track club.
word.
Bruce Kaczmarek for the alumni race win!
I'll make my predictions though we'll know a lot more after Regionals.
Men Individual Contenders (top 5ish)
Andrew Coates- UM Dearborn (former 8:20 3K guy from Canada)
Moses Peteres- UM Ann Arbor (2:26 marathoner)
Wallace Cambell- Clemson (25:08 for 8K this season)
Limoni+Garbe- UW (top 5 returners from last year)
Others?
Team Predictions Men-
1. Wisconsin- They look like the heavy heavy favorites after averaging 26:04 for their top 5 this past weekend.
2. Oregon- They seem to have better depth than the others though we don't have any head to head comparisons.
3. Illinois- They ran well in Chicago at Lakefront with top 3 all around 27:00.
4. UMich- Always a contender with great depth though no clear top 5.
5. Clemson- Seem to be strong this year and beat UNC and others recently.
Woman Individual Contenders (top 5ish)
Rachel Krasich- Duke
Rachel White- UM Ann Arbor
Alicia Grove - UVA
Erika Utter- Purdue
Kristen Morhor- Oregon
Woman's Teams-
1. UO
2. Michigan
3. Duke
4. CMU
5. Penn State

Don't expect to learn anything from the Midwest Regional (at least not relative to the others). Wisconsin's course is obscenely hilly, plus the weather's looking pretty wet, so times are going to be very slow...
My thoughts:
Coates and Cambell have to be two of the favorites given their performances.
Peters is a 2:26 Marathoner? Where has that been this season? If he's really that good a marathoner he should be running 25:00, not 27:00.
Limoni and Garbe are certainly on the list, but will likely have to run 30 second PRs to win.
Before two weekends ago I would have put Aaron Silver of Illinois on this list, given a sub 4:00 1500 and (I think) a sub 15:00 5k during track, but it appears he's been injured and his debut at Hulman did not look too good. Maybe it was just one bad race, and with a few more weeks of training he can get up in that top tier.
Team
1) Wisconsin - Would be crazy not to pick them. Although, note that Zach Bruns, who was number 3 for them this weekend is no longer a student. Thus the average for their top 5 NIRCA eligible was 26:15 (still a head above the rest)
I'm not brave enough to call the rest of it. I think UConn and Penn State certainly have a chance to slide into that top 5, but I think the order 2-5 will depend in large part on who has a good day on the 14th.
Don't follow the women as much, but look for Wisconsin to surprise as they'll likely be running a full strength squad at Nationals for the first time in perhaps ever.
I'm jacked to WATCH regionals. I just hope they have a live video feed so I can watch nationals as well.
After seeing the current rankings, they look alright. It seems that a couple voters are giving Illinois props for beating WI at Loyola, since they got a couple first place votes. However, UW's 1-2-3 didn't run there.
UW does have to prove it on the course against other NIRCA teams though. I suppose it will be settled at POPE FARM, and then again at MICHIGAN.
Midwest Regionals predictions:
It will be cold
It will be muddy
It will be hilly
No one will run under 5:30 pace
There will be blood
All I care about is the after party
Let these silly clubs fight it out
Hope the men have speed goggles :)
I think at least 80 people are going sub 5:30 pace
bitch
are there even 80 people in the race?
you kidding me?
this is nirca for real dawg
WTC FTW
I heard from the club VP there were 180 people signed up (~130 guys, ~50 girls) not counting WTC members...which I'm sure will make up another solid 30-40.
I'll be interested to see how the race turns out..that course is effing ridiculous, and I hear the weather isn't supposed to be very nice either...then again, if you're a strong hill runner [and I mean...you love hills more than anything else in the world...] it could be a fun day. The course also runs past a pasture of sheep which always kind of made me laugh..
Good luck to all who are racing! Especially the WTC crew :)
Any results from the regional meets today??
I did the timing. The results should be on the web soon though.
Men
1. WTC (51)
2. Illinois (57)
3. Michigan
Women
1. WTC
2. Minnesota
3. Purdue (6th tiebreaker wins the trophy)
3. Michigan
Peters won the mens race, second was Garbe of WI.
Womens race was won by a Michigan woman.
Course held up to 3 days of rain fairly well, and we had great weather. Course was VERY challenging though. My prediction was off, as 2 men broke 5:30 pace for the 7.83K race.
Official Results from the Midwest Regional
Note: Men's race was 7.83k, and women's was 5.98k
Absolutely awesome race from the Illinois men, as they nearly knocked us off. We had great depth today though, which should be more apparent when you can see the full results go up on clubrunning.org. I'm hoping that'll be tonight or tomorrow.
Good team performances from both the Wisco and Minnesota women. Don't think either of those teams were expecting to place. Of course, Michigan was missing at least Rachel White, and I'd presume more, cause at full strength they really should be a head above Wisco and MN.

Barker Sucks... washed up
Hasn't performed since that 6k
Plus he wore sleeves.... loser
I'll argue Penn State's case a bit. I think that their guys should be top 5, they posted some solid times this past weekend. I see the Penn State women in contention for the win with Oregon. They have a great front runner and then a pretty tight pack, and they look like they'll match up well with UO.
