Is running once everyday really bad if I don't take a day off???

Its personnel choice. I prefer the 13 out of every 14 days running and 1 day off. Make your 6 on saturday a day off and maybe raise either your long run or your 10 miler by a mile or 2 if u dont wanna be 6 down for the week and just be down 3.

Like I said its personnel choice. If you want to have 400 days of straight running because you feel its an accomplishment have fun. If you feel like every week you need a day off then make sure those other 6 are quality.

I know what the OP means and its a good question and it deserves a well thought out serious answer. I think you should learn listen to your body and take time off as you need it. Don't be a streaker and run everyday for the sake of running every day. Its pointless.

People used to always tell me that I need to take a day off each week. Well what happened is if I took off one, it was easier to take off two. I found I would run about 5 times per week. Not bad, but I'm not big talent and I need to work hard. The only way for me to do that is to run everyday. So you can tell me how great it is to take a day or two off each week, but I'm not going to be consistent if I do that, so I'm choose consistency and running everyday. If I'm tired or overworked, I run 45 minutes easy....real easy.

Why don't you just choose to consistantly run 6 out of 7 days?

I run everyday and see no problem with it. My last day off was 1 year ago when I took 3 days off after a marathon. Before that I went 2 years and 4 months without a day off. No serious injuries and just ran a pr marathon time of 3:01 Sunday at the age of 50. No worries, if you like to run everyday and you're not getting injured than do it. Just remember to take those recovery days real slow. Your schedule looks fine.

Depends, taking a day off once in a while helps to reduce the risk of getting injured and overtrained but if you are training carefully enough there is no real need for off-days.

Radcliffe takes every 8th day off, Wanjiru every 7th while Gebrselassie trains every day, so different strokes for different folks.

I did try running 6 days consistently, but that day off was too easy. So 6 days became 5, and sometimes 5 became 4 or even 3. It's when I started running everyday is when I got better and it all had to do with consistency.

It's easier for me to know that no matter what, rain or shine, I'm running. It also makes me feel tough when it's really cold out and it's 5:15 am and there is no one on the road except me, and I've been doing it for the last however many days.

Well - I didn't perform well on doubles because I started to feel tired after a couple weeks of them. But when I doubled in the past I was at about 80 miles a week.

That was awhile ago, now I've dialed back to 60 and just run everyday. I am a housewife (no kids ;) so it's not like I have a full time job. I take a nap everyday and run everyday. I feel like it is a lot of recovery to just run once a day but fellow runners seem to love their days off and tell me I should take them too but...

I don't feel like I need a day off at 60 miles per week and not working... at all. I almost feel like I have no excuse not to run 60 miles per week if I am a housewife.

But, I don't have a lot of speed. I've never broke 45 minutes in the 10K. But I'm a 3:30 marathoner. So... I'm just wondering if taking a day off would make me faster.

if you take a day off, then you'll likely be able to do faster training more often (which will make you faster sooner than later).

I plan on running 7 days a week. Life always gets in the way of that and I end up with usually 1, maybe 2 days off per month. Works out about right for me, apparently.

I think what you are doing with the days will have more effect on getting faster than the number of days per week itself. Your post could be taken to imply that you are simply varying the distance a bit from day to day with no significant effort level change.

Many Kenyans take Sunday off for religious reasons. However, they also train 2-3 X/day, etc.
