I am going to run the Berlin marathon on Sunday, everything was on schedule till last thursday, and I was almost sure that it was gonna be a PB. But since Friday morning, I have been sick. I spent most of the weekend in bed, and though I managed to drag myself to work today, I still dont feel good at all (and cant take a day off to recover, as I have a couple of deadlines before Friday). I have not run now for four days, and I am quite worried about the situation :-(
My original plan was to run 3 or 4 times this week before sunday, not more than 8K at a time, and doing the last 3 or 4 Kms at marathon pace. But now I am scared to try that, afraid I might worsen the situation.
Shall I simply take a break till Sunday? run slow 5-10ks two or three times before sunday? risk it and try the original plan of 3 short but fast runs? Any suggestions?
