Some early action this week. Nothing too exciting, as far as I see. Trinity took a beating that will probably knock them out of the polls. Anything else?

Kosgey will win but amherst will take down williams. Losing Chaffee and Cristian hurts too much.
Some quick times at the UMass Dartmouth invite this weekend:
KSC looked good
Anyone know what happened to Yochum of Amherst?
Great thread
Yochum got hurt at the Umass meet they ran and didn't finish. Amherst as a team doesn't look like they'll be close to as good as predicted going into the season. As of their last meet, only Murner out of their top 5 returners ran well with Eubank having a poor day and Yochum, Holaday, and Swanson all out.
brandeis has a good pack

Williams looked good to me.

Thats a little more than a "poor day" lets hope Eubank doesn't have that kind of meet at regionals or Amherst may not even make the big dance.
KSC
2 1 206 Daniel Murner Amherst 25:54
31 30 197 Carlyle Eubank Amherst 27:13
UMASS
9 - Carlyle Eubank (26:10:00)
10 - Daniel Murner (26:12:00)
Eubank has had his share of rough/atrocious days, so when thinking in relative terms and considering those, I think poor is a reasonable evaluation of this most recent day. Murner is also a guy with top 15-20 potential at nationals with his track times. It's entirely possible he's finding some of that form which makes it looks a bit worse.
I agree though, amherst could be in big trouble at regionals if they run like they did at keene.
Top 3 in the region have been out there (Will. Amherst, Keene), but what about that next group. All pretty quiet. How good actually are the teams like USM, Tufts, and Midd. Any real results? New Englands on Sat should answer some questions of course.
Agreed, simple math, one bad race by one guy isn't the end of all things for Amherst. More concerning is the absence of multiple returning scorers. Depending on who they get back and in what kind of shape, they could still make a case for tops in the region. Other than Keene, I doubt anyone else can challenge the purple cows.
Individual-wise, Murner's run at Keene indicates that he should be in the conversation of top guys in the region. What's Jared Samuel's deal? He had a few sick races last year but is all over the map. Williams' Kenyans will obviously be up front. Who else is running well so far? Schmidt from Midd? WesTech have anyone good?
I know this is a little off topic, but does anyone know what happened to Steph McNamara of Tufts? She was a National title contender for them last year in both XC and track but haven't seen her name anywhere this year... must be hurt?
Looks like that Oberlin "Inter-Regional Rumble" meet on the 17th is shaping up to be a great competition... plenty of ranked teams!
Tufts at Conn. College, good depth:
1 JESSE FALLER 25:17
5 NICK WELCH 25:34
9 JEFFREY RAGAZZINI 25:41
15 MATT RAND 25:56
16 KYLE MARKS 26:01
19 CONNOR ROSE 26:04
28 RYAN LENA 26:22
33 CHRISTOPHER BRUNNQUEll 26:26
41 ANDREW BELLET 26:38
49 SCOTT MCARTHUR 26:47
51 DAN KIRSCHNER 26:51
57 BILLY HALE 26:58
Williams could potentially have Perlis, Raduazzo and Watts up there near their Kenyans too. Aside from the five of them, I would think that Schmidt, Faller, Murner, Ogilvie, some Keene guys and maybe a guy or two from Southern Maine or MIT will be in contention for the top 10 at regionals. Tomorrow should say a lot about where everyone is at right now.
I heard McNamara is taking cross off after extending her track season into the summer. Tufts guys team looks like they might be decent, maybe in the 2-5/6 mix at regionals.

If USM has there #1 runner at Keene, then they easily win so idk how you can say that no one other than Keene can challenge the purple cows.
Just throwing this out there, but there are times during the fall when people get sick - sometimes it is enough to not be able to race, and at other times, it is not quite bad enough to not race but when you get going there is nothing there. All teams go through this period about 3 weeks into the season so anything about teams and missing runners / poor performances are purely speculative when it comes to what could happen later on.
Williams is by far the best team and will not be touched - or shouldn't be. After them, the next 4 teams will all qualify for NCAA but the order of them will be interesting to see - Keene, Brandeis and USM - can they run when there are some hills, Amherst - can they run without Yochum who is done for the year with an achilles tear, Tufts - ran great on a flat course and have a very good 1-2. Middlebury ran surprisingly well at williams and with a decent front runner might be in the mix as could be Bowdoin. So many teams and so few spots.
Tomorrow's race will be interesting to at least see where everyone is at right now.

USM's #1 is hurt and hasn't run in the past 2 weeks. We'll see if he can recover in time to help the team down the home stretch.
