The team should be good this year because they do have a good amount of talent but I'm not sold on Burroughs as a good coach yet. They have two new Europeans on the team but they haven't run yet for whatever reason, last year ACU didn't run their full team in till nationals so it could be a while in till we see the "real" acu.
What is up with them? They took one guy to Missouri this weekend. Any info?
ACU is running at pre-nats this weekend. However, they aren't taking everyone.
Seems like they never compete at full strength lately.
They did this same thing all through out last season and didn't compete the full squad until nationals. I don't know the reasoning behind this, seems like it would make the team environment more fun/ be a confidence builder if they could go out and dominate some meets here and there instead of always fighting with one hand tied behind their back.

Its a new fad. OK State started it.
You mean Wisco started it?
I don't think Abilene is doing this by choice this year.

It's how he was groomed from his Iona College days.... ie focusing on the bigger picture of NC's.
Ever play poker?? Never show your full hand till your ready for the kill.
you're
Okay those are good points and I understand why you might want to do that, but why only take one guy to a meet? I don't understand that.
I think Coach Burroughs is possibly over thinking the "mind games" he seems to love to play. It sounds like he wants to keep teams like Adams, Western, Chico, Harding, etc guessing on what ACU would look like they were at full strength but the thing is this isn't football or basketball where opposing teams may have to change their entire gameplan in accordance to one "secret weapon", teams like Adams are going to go into nationals and as run as fast as they can (running and cross country in particular are fairly simple sports), its not as stragetic as Burroughs is making it out to be.
Now if Burroughs is not running guys because they are injured well thats a whole other story.
How'd that smoke and mirrors philosophy work out for the Christians last year?
Hmmm, not so good as I remember.
Keep it up Samster. Maybe this year!
I think he is scared. IMO, he doesn't have the team to compete for the crown anymore and knows it. If he spills his entire team's talent level before regionals then everyone will see what ACU can't do without a full shipment of Kenyans and top recruits could cop out early.
And as far as that one guy in a meet... it looks as if he brought his woman's team and brought that one guy along. Lucky guy.
Fact is, I cant stand the christians, but...... They really care about cross as much as I do. Sure Sam wants to win, but if the school did, trust me they would win every year. Fact is, track is all that matters and they will keep pumpin money and resources into the outdoor season. If you want to measure yourself against a program in D2, measure outdoor track. They are the most dominant program in any sport in any division period. I hate to say this because they beat me every year, but their administration and boosters do what it takes to keep it goin. Maybe not so much in the future though, I think they are startin to realize that football is where its at.
bump
hump
I think you forgot that ACU trains under the Texas sun all fall seaon long.... then nearly froze to death at NC's in PA.

The title is Adams to win, absolutely no question about it. Shite, even Burroughs admitted that in a school paper interview. But 2nd, 3rd, 4th are up for grabs! It's all about November, if your kids aren't ready in Sept or Oct then you don't run'em.
