Just wondering what times some of you top runners ran when you weren't knocking out so many miles. I managed a 35:29 10KM off of 20 miles a week training for a period of a few months - within this I did a 10KM pace specific sessions of km efforts along with a shorter speed session and two steady runs. I often wonder what times I could accomplish if I doubled or even tripled my training - is 31 minutes out of the question? I know that basic speed has a lot to do with this race as well so I should probably let you know that I am expecting to run a 4:49 mile next week but again that's not of a lot of track sessions.
If I knew that 31 was on the cards I would train like an animal - no doubt about it.
