reallly slow......:-(
whole field still within 10m.... Tirunesh at the back...7 laps to go...boring race so far..
the last lap was very goood.. Defar closes it in the last 100m.. Dibaba second... really nice to see the two of them back on top...with few more races, Dibaba will be on top again. And seems the two has taken a liking to each other at last, the way they hugged at the finish line:-)
Why is Jen running for last place. And don't say she isn't. She has the least speed and is running 16 min pace. I don't see the point of her being in a slow 5000 where she's obviously going to get outkicked by everyone.
kenyans eat it!
they better know not to mess with ethiopians again.
gurantee you the kenyan women in the race will be gone next year.. but they will come up with 2 other women. Kiplagat won the xc champs last year and she is freaking gone now.
Stone-faced drugged-up Ethiopians running in circles. Yawn. When do the real races begin?
I've been a big fan of Dibs and Mess, but now I am suspicious.
Where did these two all of a sudden find their kicks again?
Black woman - nowhere to be found.
have a guess?
Defar was sick the week of the World Champs and Dibaba's injury was giving her too much trouble to run at Worlds. With both of them healthy, you had to see this result coming, since Dibaba has missed more training than Defar.
Looks like Vivian Cheruiyot (KEN) did not want to win this race. She did not give all her effort and let the Ethiopians win so easily. Cheruiyot handed the win to the Defar and Dibaba and never challenged them at all.

1) The last lap was good indeed although both Defar and Dibaba (and maybe even Cheriyot) can go even faster!
2) Dibaba looked a bit wooden in the finishing strait but will probably "smooth out" with more races.
3) Messi and Tiru have always had a good relationship (like sisters) there was a rift after the "golden-league debacle" but they've made up a long time ago......

I don't understand this either however Jennifer is screwed either way , no matter what tactics she uses she would never finish in the top-7 anyway.
A bigger question would be why Meselech Melkamu allowed the race to unfold this way she doesn't have a HUGE kick either but can still run in the 14:30-40 range this race was not smart on her part (she made the same mistake at the World-champs in the 5.000m but I figured she was probably just tired after the 10.000m)
The Ethiopian girl wearing a yellow vest( Tufa) delibarately blocked Vivian Cheruiyot to make sure she had to go wide when the kick started. So the ethiopians did not win fair and square if they had they would have my respect but it is clear that they planned so that one of their runners can block cheruiyot and prevent her from outsprinting Defar and Dibaba. This was about national pride and the ethiopians were prepared to stoop low to win so as to regain their self esteem.

Calm down....
Cheriyot has been consistent for a couple of years now check the record (she usually finishes behind defar).
Kibet has really improved very much last year and looks able to stick around for the forseeable future.
Linet Masai (who is by FAR the most talented Kenyan female distance-runner) is also going to be a factor for the future.
Kenyans are very reasonable people unlike they ethiopians, they are always humble in victory and graceful in defeat. They are always play fair and do not seek unfair advantage over their opponents.I watched that race yesterday and it was very clear the ethiopian girls blocked Vivian Cheruiyot. It reminds me of an 800M women race awhile ago which Jemal won after blocking Marelyn Okoro of Great Britain.

1) Tufa? She wasn't even in the race!
2) Blocking someone is not forbidden (although it's not pretty obviously) and doesn't mean you didn't win "fair and square". I completely disagree with you saying the Ethiopians "stooped low" that is untrue and unfair.
3) Cheriot couldn't even pass a fading Dibaba in the home straight let alone Defar (who was far ahead of cheriot at this point)!
4) This victory was very important for Defar (to prove that Berlin'09 was a fluke!) and Dibaba (to show everyone she's still here and still a factor).
Hey just go on youtube and watch the race from 800M to go .See the ethiopian girl in yellow addidas vest 'jumping in front of cheruiyot and running in zigzag way.It may not have been tufa but it was an ethiopian girl. And cheruiyot had to go wide almost to lane 5 to pass her by then dibaba and defar had kicked.Hey if they had not done that the victory would be unquestionable;i have always been dibaba's fan myself anyway.
