Almost the only women racing an actual mile are collegians during their indoor season. I'd bet it's maybe around 200--was going to guess lower, but then remembered that some Ivy teams will have maybe a half-dozen under 5:00, so presumably there will be dozens of schools with multiple women under that mark.
It doesn't have to be in an official meet.
How many females are there in the world that could run a sub5 mile per year?
