Recently I was in Boulder Colorado on business. I left my running shoes home and decided to buy a new pair at one of the local running stores ( I won't mention which one . So I'm in there and I know exactly what I want and need. The sales lady insists in me taking my socks off so se can give me a " foot examination ". I play along with the hope that this painful process will not take forever. she then goes on to tell me that judging by the drop in my arch ( she mentioned a bone but i do not recall the name ) I should be in X category rather than Y category. I let her bring out shoes she felt would work, I did not like then, told her which pair i prefer and left it at that. She kept telling me I was heading for trouble if I kept training in them. I paid for the shoes i wanted and left. I will never return to that store again. I know they are doing their job, but it gets to be a little too much when i come in for a pair of shoes and I end up with a diagnosis and a perscription for what i have and should need. Running stores are not doctors offices. Keep It Simple Stupid. Watch the person run in a neutral shoe and then determine what they need. How hard is that?
