So I was watching the President's speech and I saw, a few times, senators holding up white papers, which seemed to be a response to something said. I couldn't tell whether it was in support or in opposition. Anyone know the history of this?

Opposition. Republicans not paying attention to what was being said and weighing its merits. Like spoilt children who don't get their own way.
I believe it was a draft of the Republicans' health care bill. I'm not 100% sure though.
They were paying attention to what was said; the papers were supposedly bills that they had, a response to the allegation that this "opposition" (the Republicans) don't have a plan and aren't contributing.
I did not watch the speech, but I would like to see a little ruckus. I catch bits and pieces of the House of Commons and love the way the Brits go at it.

It was in response to Obama's claim of transparency, which most thinking Americans are starting to catch on, was BS. He and the Democrats, my FORMER party, go on TV and say their is no other plan, but is a lie. They were just calling him on it.
It was the Republicans who have already been bribed by the Insurance industry with the money they have been stealing from the public for years.
Why would they have another plan when the current system is putting money in their pocket?
