Because they think it helps their altie image.
Partially (not completely, maybe not even mostly) because they are brought up in a self-serving liberal system. College students, who are liberal, become professors and teach new students.
I'm not suggesting brain-washing or anything like that (college students are smart enough to understand), but when you're in a liberal system it has some effect.
it's the cool thing to do.

Everyone of them?
Are most college students liberal? I don't think that is a given.
If you're younger and conservative you don't have a heart
If you're older and liberal you don't have a brain
Because they were smart enough to make it to college. Otherwise they would be conservative.

You're kidding right? Certainly, the majority of college profs/teachers are. At least with students, most of them grow out of it.

Q: How do you tell the difference between a liberal and a conservative?
A: Easy. Watch a man drowning fifty feet offshore.
The conservative will throw out 25 feet of rope and shout "swim for it!"
The liberal will toss out 50 feet of rope, drop his own end, and go off to do another good deed.

You got it all wrong. The conservative would stand on shore and shout. "NO!"
I think its pretty ignorant of you to assume such a thing. But if it were true it could have to with the fact that education is a liberal priority where education in conservative eyes is whatever the "the good book" says.
College students are liberal because they have yet to be crushed by the corporate and conservative culture of fear and greed.
A college professor explains to her class that she is a liberal Democrat. She asks her students to raise their hands if they were liberal Democrats too. Not really knowing what a liberal Democrat was, but wanting to be like their teacher, their hands flew up into the air. There was, however, one exception. A girl named Lucy had not gone along with the crowd. The teacher asks her why she has decided to be different.` Because I`m not a liberal Democrat.``Then,` asks the teacher, `What are you?``Why I`m a proud conservative Republican,` boasts the girl. The teacher, a little perturbed and her face slightly red, asked Lucy why she is a conservative Republican.`Well, I was brought up to trust in myself instead of relying on an intrusive government to care for me and do all of my thinking. My Dad and Mom are conservative Republicans, and I am a conservative Republican too.`The teacher, now angry, loudly says, `That`s no reason! What if your Mom was a moron, and your dad was a moron. What would you be then?`She pauses, and lets out a smile. `Then,` Lucy says, `I`d be a liberal Democrat.`
Most students are liberal because they are sentient creatures.
because someone else is taking care of them. They don't understand personal responsibility, and it is easier to be a liberal than a conservative.
