No.
No way. Have there even been three Ethiopians who have broken 13 in the same race this year? Or last? Maybe Kenya has done it.
We would have to have Ritz, Teg, and Lagat all have pretty much a max effort and run very close to their potential in a race that was paced fast up front.
I believe there were seven Ethiopians under 13 in one race a few years back.
The better question is "when will we have a sub 13 minute American Born runner that can run a flat 400 meters in 47. or even mid 48.
The only one close to this is formula would be Alan Webb if Salazar can work his magic.
Sub 13 is Magical, but it still sucks when you don't have the best sprint speed in the race especially in un-rabbitted championship races.
Word, bulldog35. We need someone who can run sub-13 on any given day and close under 55 if we're ever going to have a chance at a medal.

yes when teg got his sub 13 for 5k, he got 7th place behind 3 ethiopians and 3 kenyans.
i used that recent race as an example, but i am sure it has been done nany times.

That has never happened. On three occasions, five Kenyans have gone sub-13:00.00 in the same race - Rome '99, Oslo '00, and Brussels '07.
The most sub-13's in any single race was 10, at Rome in 2006: four Kenyans, three Ethiopians, one Qatari, one Moroccan, and one Eritrean.
one of lagats 12:59s was in a win over bekele where he closed in 51. I think he isn't near his max if he concentrated on it.

You are overestimating their 400m speed. Teg is fast enough (well nearly) but he is going flat out to do sub 13 whereas some of the EA's are capable of 10-10 seconds faster and have something in hand
Sub 50 is fast enough. You are looking at it very negatively anyway - 2 sub 13 runners in a week & it’s still not good enough for someone like you! Loser mentality, I always though American's has a positive attitude (& I'm sure most do!)
Also interesting - here are the best-ever 5000m races for place (i.e., fastest 2nd-place, fastest 3rd-place, etc.).
Check out the bold type - funny to think of Bekele finishing 16th or 19th in a race. (Admittedly, the fastest 16th- and 19th-place finishes ever.)
