So I have increased my mileage recently and got in a solid month of 90-95 miles, after being at 85 for a few months. I am trying to get ready for a solid year on the track after college graduation this past spring. But 2 weeks ago my left calf got real tight on the medial side half way up where the gastroc and soleus seem to meet when you look at it. The medial head of the gastroc also got tight. This brought some pain on along the medial side of the tibia (upper half, no point tenderness). My lateral side of the soleus has also been tight. I did the normal foam rolling and got no relief so I went to work with my thumbs doing trigger point work which loosened the tightness up. I also was compressing the tight area. I have now taken 6 days off to let it recover. All tight areas recovered and feel great but now where the soleus and gastroc seem to meet on the medial side I have these bubbles under my skin that are painful to touch (I fell asleep one night with the compression wrap on and the next day is when I noticed the first bubble). I ran 30 min today, calf felt good except where these bubbles are and now there are more of them. They don't really effect my running except they kind of give me a burning sensation every once in a while.
I have googled bubbles in my cal after running every way possible and cannot find anything...
Anyone know what it could be, I don't think it is crepitus???
