or will he just pick one? I am afraid that if he does both, he might end up incurring his first loss on the track after such a long time :-(

He needs to lose occasionally, prove that he is human.
iaaf council are stuiped you know why after all this comptition, they force kenenisa to run other wise they do not give him the jackpot.
that is really bulshit
How can he run so many races during the course of a season. I mean I only had 2 maybe 3 good track 5ks in me per outdoor season. He;s running under 13:00 all the time, not far off his PR. I just dont see how thats possible. Not insinuating PEDs, but he must have increadible protien synthesis or 12:5? must be relatively easy for him. Amazing?
What do you mean they are forcing him to run? What Jackpot? They gave him his golden league check when he won last week. I am sure he is choosing to run to get some more money, nothing wrong with that.

The rules say he still has to compete in the WAF to get the jackpot.

wow, didn't know that.... but do you think they will "force" him to run both events, because those are the two events he won the jackpot in?... if so, that sucks biiiiiig time....

He's not really running THAT close to his PR. Although his PR is superhuman, that doesn't change the fact that he's running 15-18 seconds slower than it. He always has something left in the tank at the end, and that's why he never loses.
you know that middle and long distance are not that much important however, sombody like kenenisa who run the whole season should get the chance to rest.
what can you do, there are lots of stone head in IAAF COUNCIL
The difference between Kenny B and the US top middle distance runners is he runs 12:50ish 5Ks numerous times per year + 7:30ish or better 3Ks, as well as maintains his 10K win streak. Our top Americans finally break 13:00 and we won't see them again for until who knows when - Outside of Solinsky, there is no one else entered in the 3K or 5K this weekend ? Don't tell me, they are too tired from the handful of races run this summer. Go figure !
I think 15-18 seconds off his ridiculous PR is close enough to be unreal. I would have trouble running 8-9 5ks 15 seconds off my PR, (not including slower heats in the WC), plus a sub 27 10k thrown in. Its just unreal and very few others do it, can do it outside of the best Africans.
There is something up with that but I dont know what it is. Is he just that talenetd where 10 5ks over the course of a year at 15 sec above PR are no problem. Or is it the money that is the reason?

First off why are you basing everything he does off of what you're capable of? He runs consistently and all of a sudden "there's something up with that". So what does he have to do to be innocent. Have a shitty race and than have a great race. That would just prove that he is inconsistent and again the drug accusations would come in full force. I know a lot of you guys on here are frustrated ex-NCAA runners hence all the bashing but you are all starting to sound more and more ridiculous.

Chris Solinsky's twitter indicates that Matt didn't get in the race. Maybe he ran the 12:58 after the selections.. and you know Ritz's plans
First of all
I dont beleive BK uses PEDs. ( I beleive I mentioned that in this thread)
I dont know of anyone (and I use myself as an example for what should be obvious reasons) who does what he does in terms of consistency so close to his pr, so often. I dont even see any Americans (for example) running as many 5ks as BK.
If I ran well at Penn, then NCs then at a twilight meet I was shot, so were my teamates
Again, some thoughts on how is able to do that would be what I was looking for.

15-18 seconds is over 100 meters. It really is a significant difference.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say you couldn't do the sub 27 10k.
1) You can do this 10 times in a season?
2) you caught me in a grammatical error. Good for you!

Who is BK? Bob Kennedy?

Show me where KB has run within 15-18 seconds of his PR 10 times this season. The races he has won in even slower times are considerably easier for him. He just waits and kicks, never fully exerting himself. For him to win a 5k in 13:10 or whatever, that is not very taxing. He's running slower than 10k pace for 4600, then blasting the last lap.
Not to mention, he is the very best in the world. Of course there is a difference in his recovery.
meant KB
dislexia

It's the Burger King. He was an awesome 5K runner. Not to be confused with Howard Eskin of course.
