Here's a question: in a 1500/mile race, how much of an effect is there from drafting? A while back I did some 37 sec. 300's with near-national-class 400 guys, and tucked in the back so that I didn't hold them up. I stayed with them, not because I was as good as them, but because I found the effect from drafting to be incredible!
Is it as noticeable over the mile distance? I can imagine on the final sprint you could get quite a boost.
I know the closer you are to the person in front of you the more advantage you gain, but what do you think is the maximum distance you can be behind and still receive a decent effect? Following a single file or a bunched group make any difference?
Sorry that this is a partial copy of another post of mine from a different thread, but I'm new to the 1500/mile and thought it worthy of a new thread given my newbie-ness.
