I ran XC in High School 30+ years ago and now my daughter (Freshman) is on her HS Team.
I'm a fan of XC and track, regularly run and have trafficked this board for years. That said, I've been to three XC meets already this year and they are painful!
They are painful because they always start late, seem to take 30 minutes between races and then another 30 minutes before the award ceremony. It seems like the great majority of time is spent standing around waiting for something, not actually watching something.
I don't mean to be ungrateful and I understand that the coaches and volunteers are trying but, from a spectator standpoint, this is not good. These things take hours and most of the time nothing is happening.
Is this typical for an XC meet? Do other share my view that the organizers have to move things along and stick to their schedule? I don't remember this being the case when I ran HS XC, but then again I was a skinny kid hanging with his friends and probably did not care.
