Never been a high mileage guy (probably 40s-50s my whole life when I am running). Over the last 8 weeks I have averaged about 70mpw, though, in prep for a fall marathon.
Thinking of getting in between 80 and 90 mpw the next 6 weeks before my taper. Will this help me?
I am definitely sore and tired, but after 2 days of easy running, usually bounce back pretty well. Been doing 2 workouts a week (1 easy, 1 hard) and a long run and just started doing doubles 2x per week.
What do you guys think? Hang at the 70-80 mpw zone for the next 6 weeks or bump it up 1 more time to that 80-90 range?
Basically, is the mileage going to HURT me?
I'm planning my last long run 15 days prior to my marathon and thinking of dropping to about 60 the week before and then 50 the week of (so 24 in the 6 days leading up to the marathon).
Thoughts?
