but why aren't their girls any good? I'm guessing since it's a public school that it is co-ed, but you'd never know.

I'm guessing he doesn't coach the girls. I coach only the boys on my team.
Maybe because he usually has over 200+ guys on his team and doesn't have time to coach the girls!?!?
Similar to why you mostly only hear about the Saratoga girls team (even though the guys did have a good team).

Newton tells the boys to not associate with girls.
Like most schools in Illinois they have seperate Boys and Girls coaches. Mr. Newton doesnt coach the girls team. The girls are fairly successful usually in the top 5-7 teams in the state.
The York girls have won a State championship in recent years--no small feat, in Illinois--and are consistently competitive at the top levels.
York's girls are plenty good.
