Shannon the Frisco kid medalled in Berlin. She's immortal now, never to be forgotten.
Did I miss something? What is so special about Shannon's performances this year besides the lucky Bronze she got due to DQs and runners falling down?
anyone that did not DNF was lucky!
Go Shannon!

Are you the perpetual negative shithead that constantly buzz kills anything positive posted at this site?
I thought so.
Listen, to be in position to be "lucky" she had to engage in years of training and racing, make it through the rounds at the WC's and like make sure she was ahead of all those other women...in order to be advanced to 3rd.
What have you done lately?
Oh that's right, act like a shithead on a internet chat board.
Did you luck into a medal for that?
relax, she lucked into the bronze and she knows it. She even said she considers herself 4th (though she should have said 5th. It was the luckiest bronze ever. Imagine, the best runner in the field takes out the leader and 2nd best runner so hard that they both end up out of the standings [dq & dnf] ! If a few more people fell down and she got the gold, would you call her World Champ??? Is so, you'd be being disingenuous. )
Oh and the other guy is Kenyan.
So what we REALLY had was:
American woman 5th in the 1500
Kenya/ethiopia does great in 5k again.
What are we celebrating exactly?

Wrong. One of the most important thing in a championship race is positionng on the last lap. The Spanish chick was in terrible position and that is her fault for getting boxed in. Many runners have lost out on medals for not being able to make their move at the end. If they just did what that woman did than it would be a different story. But they would get an inevitable DQ. Its like if a runner cuts in early and wins the race. Who knows what would have happened, but you cant count their results. Who knows what place she would have got had she not pushed through and was boxed in the rest of the race.
You gotta get on the team to win. Then you have to get thru heats. Then you get a shot at medalling. If you are that good and you medal then you deserve it. Cry babies can watch and envy you until the day they die. It's was Shannon Rowbury of San Francisco, California who did all work, week and after week, month after month, year after year, won, and stood on the medal stand at 2009 Berlin. She did it. She deserved it. She has an IAAF WC medal. What a dream come true for anyone.
Shannon Rowbury has a bronze medal. That is a fact that will forever be in the IAAF world championship history books. I'm sorry for you that you can't be happy for her success. Perhaps you were hoping for one of the other USA women to medal. Well guess what? It didn't happen for them. Why? Because they finished AFTER Shannon. Get over it!
Lagat is s US citizen. He came from a foreign country just like your ancestors did. Our country is made up of immigrants. Lagat is as much of a US citizen as any of us and he represents our country with dignity and honor, which is more than I can say for your sorry self!
You can spit out all the ugly and negative things you want to say, but in the end, Rowbury and Lagat are holding medals. And guess what? You're not!!! Get over it!
