Does it suck to be in your forties? You have to eat special foods, and drink old people drinks. My parents are in their 40's. It just seems awful to know they mess around in the bed still. What does it feel like? Need advice to prepare.

This is what a karate black belt taught you? I thought you guys were supposed to be in control, patient, and in restraint. Are you sure you understand the concepts of karate conditioning?
little man, where do you read karate? you always have to assume, quit manifesting your stupidity and grow some hair around your mangina

I'll try to give you a serious answer. I'm 44 and I feel great. I'm still running pretty well, for my age. I run between 50-80 mpw depending on what I'm training for. My 10k is still in the 34 min range when I'm fit. I know I'll never be very fast again, but I still enjoy the discipline of training and preparing for races. It keeps me focused and fit and feeling good.
Professionally, being in my 40s feels a lot better than being in my 20s. If you've worked hard and done well in your profession, by the time you're in your 40s you're generally in or entering the sweet spot of your career where you have jobs that have a ton of responsibility but also where you can make a real impact.
The hardest part of being in my 40s is raising teenagers. That is where most of the stress is.

Forget the forties, it sucked to be in my twenties limping around. I sustained a major injury when I was 20 and it has never healed--haven't run a step since.
If you're a runner, whatever your age, cherish that ability. You can lose it in an eyeblink.
Fourty is the new 30...pshaa, haven't you heard?
Sorry to say but your parents seem to be aging pretty quick, maybe they didn't take care of themselves or it is genetic. I don't know anybody in their 40s who is limping around let alone eating special food or drinking "old people drinks".

Trust me on this one: a good looking 40 year old with some cash and a nice job can pull some major 20 year old tail.
whipper snapper
I just ran my fastest 10k and 20 miler times this week. I'm 44 and make sweet sweet moohla ever week. I don't limp and I get the booty when I need to. 44 is doing a'ight for me.

I'll take you up on that, sexy.
I actually liked being 40 more than I liked being under 25. A better life all around, better babes, too.
Of course, now I'm past 55. Don't let anyone tell you THAT doesn't suck.
Forty's the new 20! Less than a year from being 40 and I'm still kicking 20 year olds asses. I LOVE IT!!!
Just keep running and that will knock years off. I assume your parents don't run. I have several runner friends in their 40's, including my boyfriend who does not have a limp.
I'm 65 and I also see 40 year olds limping around and it scares me too!!!
Maybe you won't make it to forty. You could just as easily be dead tomorrow. Cheers!
At age 43, here are my top 5 years:
40
23
39
12
38

I'm 47 and I 100% agree with this post. Life is much better in your 40s than your 20s.
In your 20s you're too stupid to know this.
