Arm warmers are fine - get a life.
What are you, the queer fashion advisor? Guys who are checking out other guys and what they wear are latent homosexuals.
What about guys wearing bun huggers? You don't have to be gay to recognize gay. Arm warmers are only gay if it is above 40 degrees.
- tube socks pulled up over the calf (stripes make it classic)
- sweatbands - especially dark colored ones
- mesh singlets
- spandex
If you are looking at guys and thinking "gay" "bun huggers" etc, then you have issues, I'm just sayin'
Compression socks.
Especially if you don't plan on breaking 3hrs.
I see nothing wrong with them. More power to Teg, Hall, and any sub-elite guys wearing them! Glad to see them not worrying about the so-called standard that letsrun.com kids are trying to set.
This post is annoying. All these kids who nominate themselves to draw the arbitrary line between what is cool and what is not.
You don't like them why? Because people are more worried about what they look like than how fast they are? They try to hard regarding their appearance? It seems to me that guys like the OP are trying just as hard to "not look like a tool". You stop becoming cool when you're taking just as much effort as the guys you make fun of.
Hey kids, do you want to go back to the days of gray sweats.
Let me help you with this.
This was high tech training gear back in the 70s.

Most of you panty waists would think that you would go home crying to your momma if you had to wear what we wore back then - school issued P.E shorts and a cotton t-shirt.
If your main concern is what others are wearing, then you aren't a real runner. Mesh singlets are cool, the OP is not. He/she/it sounds like a girly guy. Snickering behind each others back on what others are wearing is very effiminate.
Time to grow up and be a man, son.
Anyone that runs a race in a Blues Brother or Superman outfit is an idiot.
I like the Bill Rodgers ones, and they've been just about giving 'em away this last year or so. Next best thing to going shirtless. I don't think they stock whole arm warmers but they do sell wrist warmers...

HOLY SMOKES! I used to wear those BR split shorts in 1979! I can't believe that they still have the same exact product for sale.

I actually have 2 pairs which I bought on sale at an Expo in Dallas. When I wear them, I get threatening looks from the fashion police at my rec. center. I have buckled under the pressure and havent worn them in a while but I might someday soon. I have been ridiculed for not wearing matching shorts and tops and sometimes I wear my yellow Brooks Racer STs which can set off a flurry of controversy just by themselves.
A long time ago football helmets with face masks were considered odd. When the first hockey player wore a face mask he was made fun of. Bull riders that donned the first bull(et) proof vest were considered pussies. And the list goes on... and the OP is making it longer.
Everything you said was a safety feature. Do you think ARM WARMERS are for safety purposes?
