I lost all respect for the Boise St community today. Does it excuse Blount's behavior? No. But what I find more appalling (yes, you read that right, more appalling) are the idiot Boise St fans who perpetuated his behavior and wanted to instigate it further. Seriously? Grow up.
Did you guys see the follow-on videos? The chair that they threw at him and the one guy (who was at least 40) hopping around the stands yelling "f*** you" trying to act like he wanted to get in the mix. You are 40 years old, did not play one down on the field at the game and yet you want to act like an 11 year old taunting, following the player and yelling obscenities at him? To me he was the MOST REPULSIVE FIGURE OF THE NIGHT. Bar none. Then we watch the video clip of the player and say, "this guy is just out of control, no one is even causing him to act like this." Yeah...right.
I'm not sure this is indicative of the entire Boise St community, but as stated, I lost all respect for them from watching the aftermath of tonight's game. The idiot player who was taunting and acting like he'd won for the first time DESERVED TO BE PUNCHED. If you want to yell and promote buffoonery, not to mention putting you hands on someone, I don't take too much issue if someone decides to retaliate with a right hook (and they should in turn suffer what consequences they have coming to them). Would you act like that in normal society and not anticipate someone to retaliate? I wish it would've ended at that, one punch thrown, a few games suspension...but the incidents that followed made it impossible to just turn your back on.
Bottom line, however, Boise St's player (I want to single him out because the rest of the players held their composure) and fans really showed their true colors...and it wasn't a good thing.
