I recently moved to the Albany, NY area for a job, and I'm having a hard time finding great places to run, particularly smooth trails (dirt roads or fire roads are ideal). I've checked out the Crossings in Colonie, Peebles Island State Park (my favorite by far), the Pine Bush, the Sage Estates area (behind Menands Elementary School), and the bike path along the Hudson.
I am willing to drive up to 1/2 an hour for something really nice. I've checked other threads on this topic already.
Have any of you run at:
Grafton Lakes State Park
Schodack Island State Park
John Boyd Thatcher State Park
Saratoga Spa State Park
Others?
Is anywhere in Clifton Park nice?
Do any of those places have nice smooth trails on which you could do a 10-15 mile run with only moderate repetition? One of my favorite places to run is the Mohonk Preserve. I realize I'm not going to find that here, but I'd settle for something in that ballpark, or a couple notches below.
Thanks for any information or ideas any of you can provide.
