He Pr'd
F*** off
A strange question that no one else would care to think of.
If Teg didn't get the AR, why would he care if he is 2 or 3. A PR is a PR, and he knows that he and Ritz will still have a few more years to chip those times away into the low 12:50s.
The GREAT news is that Americans have figured out how to run these mostly fast, even-split (with surges) Euro races without mentally giving up after brutal opening laps. Both Teg and Ritz, with their stellar XC backgrounds, are 2 of the best at being able to surge mid-race off an even fast pace. Rupp and German can certainly join them in a couple years with more international experience under their belts.
I never thought of it that way. If Ritz wasn't on the drugs the record would still have stood at 12:58 low and Teg would have just missed it and it would most likely be a bitter sweet feeling for Teg. I feel sorry for Teg though because he has been working so hard and improving year in year out. He set his goal this year to get Kennedy's record and most thought he was the only one besides Lagat who had any chance whatsoever. Out of nowhere Ritz has a complete transformation(drug induced) in one month after years of mediocrity and steals the thunder. But then again who knows if Teg would even have the nerve to stick in that lead group had Ritz not broken the record first. Ritz certainly raised the bar for the expectations put on Teg. If he had not run that time Teg might go in there with the mindset anything faster than 1304 is someting I can live with. But Ritz turned the tables and Teg probably told himself anything over 13 minutes is a complete failure.
You are pathetic. Years of mediocrity? I can not even begin to fathom how anyone could think Teg was more accomplished than Ritz. Since high school Ritz has been better. Even recently, what did Ritz place at worlds this year, 6th...Teg 8th. Olympics, 9th...Teg 13th. I am not even going to get into your ridiculous doping remarks.
the answerzzzz, you may be the #1 douchebag ever to appear on letsrun, and that's saying a lot.
As to the OP's question...Tegenkamp broke 13:00, which is still an amazing distinction. The fact that Bob K ran less than half a second faster should not bug him.
You are so wrong; Teg has been much better than Ritz (beaten him every time head to head) in the last 3-4 years.
Teg's 4th at World's '07, 2 mile AR, 13:04 when Ritz was 13:16, Teg's far superior 1500 and mile. But as far as the idiot accusing Ritz of drugs; Ritz is one of the guttiest distance runners in U.S. history and nothing that he does surprises me because of that. He just needs some good health and he and Rupp and Teg and Hall and Fernandez and a few others are going to have some great races in the next 3-5 years before they start showing their age.
Either you are exclusively speaking of races 5000 meters and up or you just plain forgot about the biggest talent in the U.S. Alan Webb. Alot of people seem to be writing him off but watch out. Once he gets revived and alittle bit of confidence. Swoosh. Thats all you are going to hear.

What the hell is an even-split (with surges) race?
Seriously? What the hell does that mean?
I suppose it's possible that each 400m is an evenish split, but they surge for part of the lap? Is that what you mean?
I think Ritz and Teg are quite simply just good enough to run under 13 now. I don't think they figured anything special out. They are just that good now.
We now have 4 Americans under 13, more than any country except Kenya and Ethiopia. This is a great thing indeed.

It is experience in Europe, good health (for a couple of guys who have perservered through some very rough stretches in their careers) and definitely some talent.
